What is the Sao Paulo Pride Parade?

Every year, Sao Paulo Pride sees an incredible pride parade travel down the Avenida Paulista, in the heart of this bustling Brazilian city. The parade usually takes place on the Sunday after the Corpus Christis holiday and is one not to be missed.

Sao Paulo Pride is South America's largest Pride event, and even the Guinness World Records certified it as the World's Largest Pride from 2006 to 2016.

Need to know

Although the parade is seen as the main pride event, Sao Paulo comes alive with lots of LGBTQ-friendly events and entertainment up to 3 weeks before the big day. You can expect to find everything from debates, plays and music concerts to dance performances, cultural fairs and street markets to name a few.

Sao Paulo Gay Pride first began back in 1997, with around 2,000 attendees but has grown to become the biggest Pride Parade in the world. Each year the parade now attracts an estimated three to five million attendees!
