What is Reykjavik Pride?
Reykjavík Pride is known as 'one of the biggest little Pride Parades in the world'.
This colorful event brings tens of thousands of people into Iceland's city center every year to show solidarity and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
Reykjavik Pride is an important event for the LGBTQ+ community in Iceland. Over the course of the week there is a full program of activities and events held all over the city. The festival promotes visibility and courage and provides people with a platform to manifest their pride.
Need to know
One of Reykjavik Pride's highlights is the parade. If you want to join in Reykjavik's Pride Parade you will need to register in advance as an individual or group. Alternatively, line the route as a spectator and watch as the city becomes a rainbow of color throughout the day.
Did you know?
Reykjavik Pride started back in 1999 where about 1,500 guests came together and it was then promptly decided to hold a similar celebration in every year Reykjavik and the rest is history!
