What is Notting Hill Carnival?
Second only to the carnival celebrations in Rio de Janeiro, Notting Hill Carnival regularly draws a crowd of over one million people to the streets of this now exclusive London neighborhood. While the Carnival celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the area, it is Afro-Caribbean Heritage that takes center stage during festivities.
Over the course of the weekend there are vibrant parades with impressive floats, sequined and feathered costumes, calypso music, steel drums and don’t forget to try the incredible food – Jamaican jerk chicken is king, but Trinidadian roti and Guyanese pepper pot are other must-eats.
