New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

What is The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?

After Mardi Gras, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival – locally referred to as ‘Jazzfest’ - is the biggest event on the city's calendar. Held annually since 1970, it is the ultimate celebration of all things New Orleans.

New Orleans is America’s musical melting pot, so despite the name Jazzfest, it is not exclusively about jazz. The city has deep musical roots in gospel, blues, R&B, zydeco, bluegrass, country music and more – so there is something for every visitor to enjoy.

Alongside the music, visitors can discover unique exhibitions such as the Louisiana Folklife Village, browse locally made handicrafts and of course, eat!

Need to Know

Jazzfest is a major event in New Orleans, so make sure you check out the line-ups and book early. While it draws famous musicians from around the country, make sure to check out a few local acts for an authentic NOLA experience.

Did You Know?

New Orleans is rightfully proud of its rich and unique culinary history, so naturally food is a huge part of the festival. You won’t find cotton candy and traditional carnival snacks here though. All food vendors at the event are local and serving up the food for which New Orleans is famous – beignets, muffulettas, jambalaya, gumbo, fried green tomatoes and more.
