What is Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest?
The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is an annual American hot dog eating competition. Competitors have 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs as possible.
According to legend, on July 4, 1916, Independence Day in the U.S., four people gathered around the first Nathan's hot dog stand in Coney Island and had a hot-dog eating contest. That is why the annual event is held at Coney Island every Fourth of July.
