What is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest is one of the world's most iconic beer festivals running from late September to the first weekend in October. Each year, more than six million people from around the world attend this incredible event.
Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture and has been held in Munich since 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations that are similar but nothing quite beats the original.
Visitors can also enjoy numerous attractions, such as amusement rides, sidestalls, and games. There is also a wide variety of traditional foods to tuck into.
So if you happen to be in Munich while Oktoberfest is on, make sure you drop by and soak up the atmosphere over a stein or two!
Need to know
There is no need to buy tickets but the festival gets very busy so head there early to secure a spot in one of the beer tents. Weekdays tend to be quieter than weekends and evenings.
Did you know?
Only beer from Munich is sold at Oktoberfest. Prost!
