What is the Rio Carnival?

The infamous Rio Carnival can only be described as the greatest show on earth and is seen as the benchmark for every other carnival across the world.

The carnival is celebrated five days preceding Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent in the Catholic calendar. With bright colours, bold costumes and lively samba sounds, over 2 million people hit the streets every day to be part of this unique event.

During the five days, each day and night has its own theme and local relevance. Prepare to get lost in the heady rhythms and mesmerizing beats of the bands and the drummers, whilst the dancers and incredible floats will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

This truly is one of the most amazing experiences on the planet. Add it to your bucket list now!
