What is the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta?
As one of the world’s largest ballooning events, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta routinely draws up to 700 balloons and pilots from around the world. The nine-day event is held annually during the first week of October and attracts upwards of 800,000 visitors.
Aside from the awe-inspiring ‘mass ascensions’ when hundreds of balloons launch simultaneously – there are tons of activities including balloon glows, photo contests and fireworks. True enthusiasts will be interested in the competitions which include tasks such as landing on a target set by the BalloonMeister as well as dropping markers on set goals.
